This watercolor football banner is a simple and festive craft to get your home Game Day ready for watching your favorite football team play!

This is a sponsored post for DecoArt for whom I am a Core Blogger. As always, all ideas and opinions are 100% my own.

It’s football season!!

Growing up in Knoxville, TN you either loved or loathed college football.

The University of Tennessee was THE place to be on game day, and if you couldn’t be there, you were glued to the television watching every play and yelling at the screen.

Now that I’m an adult and living outside of my hometown, I don’t catch every game, but I do watch when I remember it’s on.

And I am still definitely a UT fan all the way!

So I thought it would be fun to make a trendy watercolor football banner because who says football can’t be trendy, too?

If you’re short of watercolors or don’t plan to watercolor much so don’t want to invest in the paints, fear not!

You can create the same effect with non-watercolor paints as I describe below.

Watercolor Football Banner Supplies:

You will need Americana Multi-Surface Paints in the following colors:

Brown Sugar

Turf Green

Cotton Ball

Pumpkin Patch

You will also need an inexpensive watercolor tablet.

Squeeze out about a nickel’s worth of paint, wet paintbrush with water, then stir paintbrush into paint.

Repeat this 2-3 times to thin out the paint.

Brush a few strokes onto the watercolor paper then dip brush in water and rub over the paint on the paper.

It will further thin it out and spread over the paper.

Do this for each the brown, green, and orange (or other team colors!).

Once the green is dry, wet the white paint as you did the other colors previously.

Draw straight lines across the paper.

The brown will be the footballs, the orange is the for the UT logo (so insert your team color here), and the green and white is the football field.

On the back of the brown watercolor sheet, draw footballs then cut out.

On the back of the orange watercolor sheet, draw school logo or symbol then cut out.

Cut the green watercolor sheet into 6 rectangles to represent the football field.

Punch holes as needed to string up the banner.

Not only is this watercolor football garland festive for game day, but it might even help me to remember to look for the game so I don’t forget to watch!

And who says football decorations can’t be fun and cute?

Happy game day!
